Colin Dunne is a leading figure in the world of traditional Irish dance, who has made the cross over into contemporary dance and theatre. Best known internationally for his performances and choreography in Riverdance and Dancing on Dangerous Ground, he has been forging a new creative path since his time as artist in residence at University of Limerick where he completed an MA in contemporary dance in 2002. In 2007 he was nominated for a UK Critics Circle National Dance Award (best male: modern dance) for performances at The Barbican in Fabulous Beast’s production of The Bull. Dance Limerick for dance, Dance Limerick for dancers, Dance Limerick for dance lovers. Dance Limerick Studio and offices are based at 1-2 John’s Square, Limerick, in the heart of the city. Directly across the square is the Dance Limerick Space (St John’s Church, formerly Daghdha).
Funded by the Arts Council and Limerick City Council, Dance Limerick is a support and development organisation. Through a combination of performance platforms, residency opportunities, master classes, talks and lectures, Dance Limerick advocates for artistic dialogue and exchange. In collaboration with dance artists across a range of practices, Dance Limerick promotes the creation of new and innovative work and devises programmes of access, engagement and participation for the wider public.
Our jam packed programme offers residencies for professional dance artists, professional classes and workshops, performances, classes for kids and adults as well as studio space for individual projects.
